Historic Designation
Historic designation tells the story of a place and what makes it historically important; it’s also a crucial step towards preservation and provides access to incentives for future preservation phases. Preparing designation documents requires extensive historic research and presenting a compelling and coherent argument for historic significance, along with supporting fieldwork, photography, and mapping. Historic Tax Credit Consulting
Clerestory Preservation assists with preparing documentation for Historic Rehabilitation Income Tax Credits, including Parts I, II, and III for the Federal Income Tax Credit. Clerestory can also provide advice on the appropriate treatment for historic buildings per the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
Grant Writing
Clerestory Preservation principal and owner Erika Warzel has successfully written numerous grant applications to the Colorado State Historical Fund as well as the National Park Service and can provide assistance with crafting your preservation project for grant funding.
Historic Research
Clerestory also provides general historic research on historic properties and related contexts for other purposes, including interpretation of historic sites.
